Position: Senior Research Associate – Molecular Biology
FSLA Status: Exempt
Summary: Kyowa Kirin Pharmaceutical Research, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of Kyowa Hakko Kirin, Co. Ltd. is seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Associate with demonstrated technical and analytical competence in the area of Molecular Biology to support the discovery of novel therapeutics for autoimmune and inflammatory diseases indications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Independently construct expression vectors, confirm sequences, produce and analyze recombinant proteins and stable cell lines, and perform laboratory experiments directed at the discovery of novel therapeutics capable of modulating function of multiple primary human cell types.
Required technical skills include:
Molecular Biology: skilled at standard molecular biology techniques (PCR, RT-PCR, primer design, ligation, transformation, Sanger sequence analysis), proficient with DNA software (DNAstar or similar). Experienced in cell transfection, e.g. lipofection, electroporation, nucleofection, and protein production techniques, e.g. FreeStyle 293. Experience with stable cell line generation.
Cell Biology: skilled in tissue culture, preferred to also have experience with primary cells or human blood and mouse tissue processing. Proficient with basic flow cytometry ( 4-color) and FlowJo analysis software. Skilled at western blot and ELISA methods.
Software: Proficient with FlowJo, Excel and PowerPoint Design, perform, analyze and report basic western blot, ELISA and flow cytometric assays. Must be highly self-motivated, detail-oriented, well organized and work effectively as part of a team.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Molecular or Cell Biology or a related field and 2 years or more of relevant experience.
